Clare Walton is a socially engaged artist, playworker and artist educator. Her arts practice focuses on collaborating with children and young people to promote their voice and support them to engage as active citizens in their community. A multi-disciplinary artist Clare's work embraces the concept of adventure play as a primary tool to promote child-led collaborative work that questions the current social dynamics that place children and young people in positions of limited power. 

Clare worked for 8 years as a playworker with Australia's first Adventure Playground, Fitzroy Adventure Playground (Cubbies). Her experience with Cubbies has given her a direct insight into how adventure play can support children and young people develop their social and emotional skills, leadership development, self-confidence and ability to engage as proactive members of their community.

Clare has worked with Regional Arts Victoria, The Sydney Opera House (creative learning program) and as the Artist Educator for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and School Education Program and Access and Inclusion Manager for Sculpture by the Sea. Clare is currently working part time as the Creative Learning and Public Programs Officer at Devonport Regional Gallery, Tasmania and as an independent artist.
