Dominique is currently developing a new SITUATE work for THE UNCONFORMITY in 2018 in collaboration with Tom BLAKE

Dominique Chen is a multi-disciplinary artist working across photography, printmaking, performance and video installation. Dominique uses her mixed Aboriginal (Kamilaroi) and European heritage as a reference point to explore, deconstruct, and reimagine contemporary cultural and individual understandings of, and connections to the natural environment – as expressed through notions of place, narrative, history and memory.

Often working with collected materials, and collaborating with natural processes and cycles, her work is a responsive, reflective and critical engagement with cultural and environmental spaces / places in time. Dominique has had solo exhibitions in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and has been involved with group exhibitions across Australia and New Zealand.

She is currently completing postgraduate study at Griffith University (Queensland College of Art) where she also tutors within the GUMURRII Indigenous Student Support Unit. Dominique has spent the last six years working in the corporate arts sector, as well as the not-for-profit sector facilitating photography, multimedia and social enterprise initiatives in remote Aboriginal communities.
